Disney’s Art of Animation is in the process of getting a new floor in the lobby. Recently the front section of the lobby area was closed off in order to install the new flooring and now construction has moved to the rear portion.
The entrance closest to the Disney bus stops is currently half closed due to the construction area inside.
A temporary wall currently blocks half of the check in counters, which seems to create more of a wait time for guests. The first portion of the floor renovation only seemed to take a couple months, so the current project hopefully won’t impede guests for much longer.
Portions of the old floor will still have to be sectioned off for future phases. Temporary carpets cover the transition between old and new flooring.
The old floor certainly looked dated and was hard to keep clean.
The new floor does look rather nice, with a whimsical color scheme. According to a cast member, the new floor seems to help prevent slipping when wet. Safety seems to always be a number one priority for Disney.
