My initial craving was leading me toward the pulled pork sandwich, because it looked really delicious and messy, (which is how pulled pork should be). After standing in line and debating, I changed my mind and went with a more classic choice, the chicken and ribs.
I believe I made the right decision! The chicken was so crispy on the outside and so juicy and flavorful inside. The ribs were cooked really well, with a delicious spice rub coating the meat. Both items had been slow cooked and easily fell from the bone.
The meal included cole slaw and baked beans. Both were good, but nothing overwhelming. The cole slaw was seasoned nicely with pepper, which really brought out the flavor. The beans were very plain except for a bot of pulled pork thrown in for texture.
After completing my chicken and ribs meal and feeling pretty full, I decided to talk with the managers about the menu. They were kind enough to bring out different selections so I could take pictures, but they had another plan in mind. They graciously gave me this amazing portion of the Pulled Pork Mac & Cheese so I could review it.
After the first bite, I realized what I should have ordered from the start. This dish was outstanding! The combination of the creamy mac & cheese, pulled pork and cole slaw was such a delicious bite, it was almost impossible not to fall in love. The onions rings were so crispy on top, I was really shocked that they weren’t soggy. Finally, the BBQ sauce drizzled all over gave that added touch of tangy sweetness that made this dish number one on my menu list!
I was thoroughly impressed with the Flame Tree Barbecue and will be eating there many more times in the future. I hope you enjoyed this review and will get to experience these yummy dishes for yourself.
