The stars are all aligning and the powers that be in the theme park world must believe that there is something special about the date June 17, 2016. Every time I turn around there is an announcement about something opening on this upcoming Friday! Not sure what prompted this to occur. Is there something inherently special about this date or is it merely a coincidence? Here are a few of the well known attractions or events that will have their beginning on June 17, 2016.
Soarin’ Around the World (Epcot/Walt Disney World)
The latest version of the Soarin’ attraction Soarin’ Around the World is set to open June 17th, 2016. The original Soarin’ Over California is taking its last flights and will soon be replaced. A new concourse has been added for extra capacity for this much anticipated new version of Soarin’.
Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular (Disney’s Hollywood Studios/Walt Disney World)
This new nighttime show at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is promising to be one of the most technologically advanced shows that we have seen at a Disney park. They will be using projections along with fireworks and other special effects to tell the story of the Star Wars Saga.
Mickey’s Royal Friendship Faire (Magic Kingdom/Walt Disney World)
Cinderella Castle stage has been undergoing renovations in preparation for the first new daytime stage show at Magic Kingdom in years. The sound of “Dreams come True” will no longer fill the air. We will, however, be treated to a new show that includes a new cast of characters from Tangled, Princess and the Frog, and Frozen. Of course, Mickey and the gang will be there as well.
Cobra’s Curse (Busch Gardens Tampa)
This three and a half minute coaster features 2,100 feet of track and has a maximum speed of 40 mph. This unique coaster faces you forward, then backward, and finally freely spins as you travel the remainder of the track. Cobra’s Curse should definitely be an amazing experience for all that ride the attraction, and for those, like me, who will be watching from the ground.
Finding Dory (Disney/Pixar Film)
Ok so it’s not a theme park attraction but I think we can all agree that most Disney theme park fans are fans of Disney films. Finding Dory is the sequel to Finding Nemo where Dory sets out to find her family. We will be introduced to new characters in what I am assuming will be another great Disney/Pixar film.
There you have it, some amazing attractions opening up on the exact same day! Since some are during the day and some at night there may very well be a way to take in more than one but I think everything would have to align perfectly to be able to take in all of these great attractions on the same day. I’m sure someone will try and if you are that person contact us because we would love to talk about that experience! What on this list are you most looking forward to experiencing? No matter what you enjoy I am sure that there is something on this list for you. We may never see another day like this again so let’s brace ourselves for the social media storm that will be June 17, 2016!
