The Disney Skyliner has officially been testing gondolas on the Epcot line between Disney’s Caribbean Beach and Epcot’s International Gateway for one week. On a recent visit, that testing was brought the a halt due to severe weather. Yesterday, was a different story. The sun was shinning in a bright blue sky and the Disney Skyliner gondolas were running full speed ahead.
The real surprise came when the vibrant purple Snow White gondola was spotted among the sea of white covered gondolas. The lone character gondola was the first to make an appearance on the Epcot line, after all the gondolas were recently revealed at Hollywood Studios.
The International Gateway station literally is a work of art, with a gorgeous mural of the Florida Egrets painted on the front. It will be spectacular once the station is complete and all of the gondolas are revealed without cover.
The Boardwalk Resort also has a spectacular sight sitting in the parking lot. The gondolas run parallel with Buena Vista Drive until entering a 90 degree turnstile at the Boardwalk. Gondolas approach at full speed and then slow down dramatically through the inner track, exiting again at full speed on route to Epcot. We were lucky enough to catch Walt Disney’s first feature length star making her way through the turn.
Testing will continue through the summer as Disney prepares the Skyliner for a fall opening. Make sure to follow PASSPORT TO THE PARKS for the beat Disney Skyliner coverage.
