Took a long walk around Epcot yesterday to see what changes have started and also what was going to take place in the near future. We are expecting some major announcements from D-23 at the end of August that will give us some insight on plans to re-imagine Epcot’s Future World.
So many projects are currently under construction throughout Future World and World Showcase. The Guardians of the Galaxy, new space themed restaurant, Ratatouille, and the International Gateway are all moving forward and are expected to open over the next year.
Half of the Leave A Legacy pillars have been removed from the entrance area. The entire plaza will be redesigned over the next year.
The Guardians of the Galaxy Roller Coaster is now completely closed in as work will continue inside over the next year.
The new space themed restaurant is due to open by the end of 2019, but the outside is not complete and we have to assume the technology on the inside will take some time to complete. It will be interesting to see of Disney can maintain a 2019 opening date.
The International Gateway is still under heavy construction as Disney looks to expand security and ticket entrances to handle the future increase in guest traffic. The Disney Skyliner is set to open on September 29, so hopefully this project will move along quickly.
